Dollar drops for the first time since Lula da Silva’s inauguration

The commercial dollar closed at R$5.35 this Thursday, Jan. 5. It is the first time that the currency's price has fallen since Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took office as President of the Republic.

Compared to the previous day's quotation, the commercial dollar closed down almost 2% yesterday.

In the last trading session before Lula da Silva took office for the third term as President of the Republic, the U.S. currency closed, quoted at R$5.28.

In other words, it was about 1% lower.
